"The Widows Sons" are a Masonic organisation and do great work raising funds for worthy causes throughout the area. Our part in the proceedings was to provide background music, as well as public announcements, etc.
It was an absolutely scorching day ...... so hot in fact; that the ice cream van on the site ran out of supplies halfway through the day and had to be re-stocked!
There was a multitude of fabulous motorcycles in attendance, from early Ariels, BSAs, Triumphs, and Vincents, through to newer models such as Kawasaki, Honda and, naturally, Harley Davidson plus some awesome looking trikes! There were also some fine cars, ranging from TVRs, through a Ford GT40, Ford Mustang, a wonderfully restored Rover P6, a very classy looking Bentley and a fully restored Bedford truck, resplendent in navy blue and red livery.
The crowds kept coming throughout the day and our team of volunteers - Caz, Ginger Jesus, and The G-Man - were inundated with song requests (which kept the 3 of them occupied and out of trouble !).
We have been informed by the shelter that a total of £2,130.69 was raised on the day with some pledges still to come in.
