The Koast Radio Team with the support of local businesses in Newbiggin hosted a Summer Event in the heart of Newbiggin. On show were some fantastic classic scooters from local scooter clubs, music from local musicians and of course music from the Koast Team. A 51 year-old man and 57 year-old woman were arrested this morning (31/01) on suspicion of illegal money lending and money laundering following an operation in Newcastle upon Tyne. The England Illegal Money Lending Team (IMLT) working in partnership with Newcastle City Council Trading Standards and Northumbria Police executed warrants at three home addresses. The Koast Outside Broadcast Team were out in force at Manor Walks for the Christmas Light Switch on and build up during the day. The Team were located outside Frankie and Benny’s as well as on the stage in the Central Mall. Cash confiscated from convicted loan sharks has been awarded to a community radio station based in Ashington. Koast Radio, who broadcast online across South-East Northumberland, have been awarded with their full bid of £1,675. Their project will help raise awareness of the dangers of borrowing from loan sharks through a targeted radio, social media and publicity campaign.
