KOAST RADIO 01670 432107
Koast Radio has been broadcasting online since May 2010 and we currently have around 45,000 hits on our stream each month. The idea is to make radio accessible to all of Ashington.
Our aim is to produce a locally focused station for the local community, speaking about the issues affecting you and your community, promoting events and organisations in the area and also offering the wide variety of music to “you” our listeners.
Koast Radio are based at the YMCA in Ashington with the help of various grants from the likes of Awards for All, UK Coal and Ashington Town Council, we have broadcasting equipment some commercial stations would be envious of. Since the beginning we have gone from strength to strength.
We want to start to break down barriers by presenting information in a different way, by giving local residents a platform and a voice as well as taking ownership of projects to improve the area you live in.
We are very much a community station and our doors are open to all. We want to work with the community to make Ashington a better place, where people have aspirations and have the will to make our community a better place to live.
Above all we seek to build up a sense of “ownership” by the local community, so that you feel that Koast is your station, airing your views, playing your music and listening to what you say.
Koast are offering a range of opportunities both on and off air. The station is a place to explore in a friendly and safe environment. You can see just how much fun radio can be; and, who knows, we may even be the spring board for launching the career of the next Chris Moyles or Fearne Cotton.
